P.S my favorite song on the game is the end boss first song I don't know why I just love it. I you are a fan of strategy based games then definitely try this out. I don't have any complain on that.Īll in all it is a great game and definitely a hidden gem. Equips are basically if you are rich you can get the strongest at the end game. Also if you are expecting a Job or class based game you will be heavily disappointed as they don't do that here. Guess the developers aim (I'M NOT SORRY FOR THE PUN) was to make it look like the passive skill was definitely a worth it kind of thing rather than just being redundant at the end of the game.Įquips and skills and all that doesn't have much customization. well after I maxed his affinity he did get a special somewhat passive skill (btw this passive skills are available and unique to all of the other team mates) to make up for his blindness. I understand the somewhat challenging approach but come on for the love of God you are a freakin archer with glasses! and is just 1 cell away from the enemy with a 80% hit rate yet you still F****** missed! The hell man. Like a 50% hit rate for the player is like some what 20% in reality while for the enemy it's like 85%. However the disadvantages makes this game annoying. Gameplay on the other hand is good it's your regular run of the mill strategy game. You will be able to better understand them. Being able to raise your affection with the witches added that also and being able to hang out with your other teamates was a added bonus also. The story was interesting and I love how they use the somewhat Ar tonelico approach.

However I'm really glad I was able to play this game. However after playing this hidden gem I would like to say.įinal fantasy Tactics was still not defeated. If you’re interested, I did a retrospective on this game on my podcast - you can find it if you search for The Gaming Journal and the title is the episode is simply “Ep.1 Stella Glow Retrospective.įirst of all I have played Final Fantasy Tactics and I need to be honest after how many years.I haven't yet found anything to match that game. With a bit of grinding, endurance and tolerance with having to restart and retry battles from time to time, I think this game is absolutely doable for any fan of SRPG’s - and I would highly recommend this to fans of Fire Emblem Awakening, though it’s definitely more of a challenge if you’re used to playing other games on easy modes. I couldn’t recommend this enough to fans of JRPG’s, anime, heavy story telling, bonding sim elements, and challenging strategy combat. I ended up loving the story and cast far more than I thought I would initially, and I think this game is ultimately very underrated and, unfortunately due to Imageepoch’s demise, will likely remain a hidden gem left to the past. Battles, aside from slowness, were varied and almost always just the right amount of challenge, yet felt doable. Out of the 14-15 playable characters, each had unique skills and move sets and it was fun trying them out. Outside of those issues, I really dug the overall strategy combat. Until I got to the last handful (maybe less) of boss fights where I had to restart several times and, I think, I had to suffer through them lasting a lot longer than they really should have. I had tried to grind a little here and there to keep up, but never felt I needed to do so too much. My major issue was the difficulty spikes that began to ramp up towards the last 10 or so hours of the game. But thankfully you can at least turn off battle animations which helps a little to speed things up. really slow going here in every battle) and the high level of unnecessary fan service.

My only minor gripes are with the slowness of the combat (it’s. Additionally, this games voice acting and OST were superb - which really added to the characters and story telling. The main protagonist was well balanced: being balanced in heroism, displaying weakness and courage, etc. I enjoyed the majority of the characters as well - and aside from several ridiculous outfits, their personalities and designs were all very unique and enjoyable in their own way. I was always excited to progress the narrative.
Stella glow elements full#
While the story was full of expected tropes, it did throw some unexpected twists and turns in, which kept me interested and wondering what would happen next. The flow and design of the game - from the spending time bonding with your team mates to the strategy and heavy focus on narrative - all reminded me a lot of Fire Emblem Awakening. Overall, my time with Stella Glow was well spent.
